With Democrats Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama locked in a death grip over their party’s nomination… the obvious question for Republican is who should we root for?
Each candidate has their strong points. Obama is generally considered more liberal than Clinton, so in a traditional race putting a liberal Democrat against a moderate Republican… the Republican should win easily. But that many not be the case, because for some reason Obama has the ability to reach out and win independents. He’d be a tough guy to take on in a general election. And if he won, he policies would probably be more damaging to the country than Clinton’s.
Clinton has huge negatives, which would be a big help right off the bat. But she also has her husband and his political machine. It’s not looking as strong as it once was, but you never know. The Clinton’s play hard and dirty… a campaign against her would be a bruising experience for John McCain. Bill and Hillary have tasted the White House and will do just about anything to get back there.
But ultimately, it comes down to a choice between a liberal Democrat who can appeal to the center. And a slightly less liberal Democrat who would be easier to beat due to her high negatives. Clinton is the better option for Republicans, both because her policies as President would be slightly less terrible for the nation and because she could be more easily beaten.
That’s my take on it anyway. What do you think? Sound off in the comments!

I hate Hillary so much. I’d take Obama over her if he was a communist.

Well here is the thing, the best outcome for Conservatives (not the RNC) would be for Clinton to win. She’d be bad, I mean really bad, maybe worse than Carter. With this kick to the nuts the country would have another 1980 in 2012. So in all she maybe what we need to get our act together in the end.

How the hell could Obama’s policies damage this nation more than the last eight years of Bush?
Loss of all respect WW
A war with no end in sight, that drains billions from our economy
A rising Debt and Defict, all to pay for tax cuts that have done more harm than good
Looming entitlements
Recessions, with possib;e stagflation
Please if anything Obama can actually turn this thing around, McCain won’t do it, as he will tow the party line on tax cuts and on the war, and he doesn’t understand enough about the economy to go after the entitlement reform we need.
Hillary is too hated by the GOP to get anything done.
Obama on the other hand will actually listen to the needs of the people and opposing viewpoints, plus his appeal allows him to be ale to form partnerships wit hthe GOP to get things done

Actually Obama’s policies would hurt the nation more than Bush. Yes, under Bush the government grew. With Obama it would grow even more. He’d do everything in his power to make you feel like you need government, that you can’t do without it. In no way, shape or form is that a good thing.

Oh please, Bush outspent every democratic administration ever, while granting huge tax cuts, and even with six years of total control failed to pass any necessary refroms to Medicare, medicaid or Social security, yeah, i’ll gladly take a risk with Obama over McCain who wants to continue Bush’s foolishness

axt - That would be “Bush outspent to date”, keep in mind when Obama comes in (and yes, with McCain as the RNC choice, I think it will happen) he’ll make Bush look like Scrooge. The man is a walking entitlement spender.
As for the socialist programs you stated, the best reform would be to File 13 them.

I think that the Republicans prefer Hillary - they have a multitude of negative goodies about the Clintons. And Hillary won’t be able to make the war, that she approved, be an attack issue!

Obama has skeletons in his closet which–for some reason–have gotten little media attention. The 2005 house deal with Rezko will likely pose problems for him in an election. His popularity may be sustained or grow, but my suspicion is that he will become far less popular when his character–rightly–comes into doubt over the land deal with Rezko. Because it has to do with the house that he actually lives in, it’s more personal and makes it seem all that much more questionable.

Search “Rezko, Clinton” to see some interesting info - Hillary claims she wouldn’t recognize Rezko if he walked in the door !!! Why is McCain attacking Obama before the primary is over? Could it be because he sees him as the most challenging opponent? Looks like that to me.
