DRUDGE: Nancy Reagan Supports McCain

Fri, Feb 1, 2008 by Austin Cassidy

Odds & Ends

The Drudge Report has posted a blurb that says former First Lady Nancy Reagan is a big fan of Senator John McCain.  Unfortunately for the McCain campaign, Mrs. Reagan has no plans to make a formal endorsement or inject herself into the race as a surrogate for one candidate or another.

Drudge quotes a top Reagan aide as saying: “She adores him, and is fully supporting him in her private life.  She will not publicly endorse.”

Still, word that he has the Reagan seal of approval should go some distance toward making conservatives more comfortable with McCain as the Republican nominee.

That does nothing to make conservatives more comfortable with that liberal McCain. And it’s not the Reagan seal of approval, it’s Mrs. Reagan’s seal of approval. Try not to misrepresent the facts.

  2. Mike Says:

Don’t forget that McCain actually thinks that Clinton would make a good President. I seriously question the judgment of anyone that would support him.

  3. John Says:

Mccain didnt think clinton would make a good president, he just thought her gender shouldnt come into play when she is running for president. I am sick of people saying mccain is not a conservative. Then why does he have 82% rating from the conservative union just as well as many conservatives in congress, of course on some issues he is conservative and some not, but this is true for anyone who is in congress. If he is really a liberal, then the republicans who endorse him are also liberal. Tell Charlie Christ, Rick Perry, Rudy Guiliani, Nancy Reagan, Jon Kyl, Jeff Flake, Mel Martinez, Lindsay Graham that they are liberals.

  4. Jason Says:

Mike most of those people you mentioned are liberals. McCain has an Mexican ex-cabinet member who is more outspoken on illegal immigration than McCain is, working with him in his campaing. He is an advisor on latin-American relations.

Does this sound like a man who “gets it?”

  5. Jason Says:

A cabinet member who served under Vicente Fox’s adminstrations when he was President of Mexico. I should have made that clearer.

  6. Yolanda Says:

Right and uhhh…Vicente Fox, as we all know was…what, a baby-eater or something? So WHO CARES if he was in Fox’s cabinet? That’s more experience IMO!

John, From your post : ” Tell Charlie Christ, Rick Perry, Rudy Guiliani, Nancy Reagan, Jon Kyl, Jeff Flake, Mel Martinez, Lindsay Graham that they are liberals.”
They are liberals. The big ones are Christ, and that poor excuse for a senator Martinez. Show me where they tried to make government smaller. LOL! Good luck.
