Ron Paul Hunting for Caucus Delegates

Sun, Feb 3, 2008 by Austin Cassidy

Odds & Ends

With Super Tuesday right around the corner, you certainly might have expected Congressman Ron Paul to be doing last-minute campaigning in some of the giant states that will vote… like California, Georgia, or New York.  But Paul is spending much of today campaigning in the much lower profile states of North Dakota and Minnesota.  And there’s a good reason for it.

Paul’s millions of dollars and rabid fan base have only translated into single-digit showings in most contests thus far.  He’s captured only 8 delegates to the convention and time is running out for him to post a break-out showing somewhere.

On Tuesday, two dozen states will vote and among them are four Republican caucuses.  In Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, Alaska, and Minnesota caucus events will select over 150 convention delegates.  Paul is focusing resources in particular on these states because they generally award delegates proportionally rather than the winner-take-all system.  Plus, caucuses tend to favor candidates with aggressive and devoted supporters.

If Ron Paul can score good showings in these four states on Tuesday he will probably add 30 to 40 delegates to his total.  Not nearly enough to make him a serious contender for the nomination, but it will improve his position as a protest candidate and could enhance any attempt he makes to bolt from the GOP and run as an independent or form a new party.  Paul could also choose to take his delegates to the convention in September and demand a speaking role.

These five caucus states are where Ron Paul supporters will be watching and pulling for an upset on Tuesday night.  And in the case of Alaska, they may need to put on a pot of coffee and wait up for a while.

When the Paulie Cult loses, there’s gonna be some mass suicides and armed takeovers! God help us all. Those people are so creepy.

  2. TJ Says:

Yolanda…hmm, let me guess. Hillary gets your vote. You people just telegraph yourselves :P

  3. Yolanda's Ignorant Says:

    Baaaaah, Yolanda….Baaaahh you sleeping sheep..baaah

  4. Neil Kiernan Says:

WE are creepy? I think anyone who could vote for Romney or McCain who will continue this foreign policy that is bankrupting our country and killing our people is pretty damn creepy! I am not into conspiracy theories or any of that jazz, but seriously open your eyes and look at what you are talking about!

  5. lsr57@yahoo.com Says:

Believe it or not there are still people out there who have never heard of Ron Paul because of the MSM censorship .If they have heard of him its not much so they are still ignorant like Yolanda . If folks took the time to understand the positions and policies of members of their prospective party using the Internet and not TV they could actually make a informed choice

  6. RaferJanders Says:

Yolanda, you really are a closed minded person,”those people” we are all American’s right?
Thats Ok you are a hater fine, You probley hate fat people, black people, women, jews, latino’s, single moms, and vets, because we are those people.

  7. Yolands Mind Says:

    Yolanda,
Your pushing hate crimes. You shouldn’t talk to people like you do. If you were talking about us in a racial term or sexual term it would be considered a hate crime. I think they should use it as on for you on politics.

  8. Brian Says:

“When the Paulie Cult loses, there’s gonna be some mass suicides and armed takeovers! God help us all. Those people are so creepy.”

Actually, the whole nation loses. When Hillary takes away your guns or freedoms you’ll be wishing you supported Paul.

  9. Linveninato Says:

Yolanda, why are you such an angry person? Ron Paul wants Peace and a return to reasonable spending by our government. Ron Paul Supporters are well educated and understand that our country is going the wrong direction…come away from the dark side?

  10. Joe Says:

I guess I’ll take my creepy ass and all the money I donate to the Republican Party and go somewhere else. I guess you “real” conservatives that talk limited Gov’t and push No Childs Behind Left, endless undeclared wars, the constant running of the printing presses, and more taxes have you’re “creepy” Republican Party.

  11. Rman Says:

Besides Dr. Paul the rest of the pack of contenders are signatory members of the CFR…for those of you that watch tv, that’s the council on foreign relations… which is builder block of the so called new world order and one world government. So if you want a north American union… vote for anyone besides Dr. Paul

  12. Thomas Says:

Yolanda is right. We got involved with Ron Paul supporters and now know why Ron Paul will never be accepted by the mainstream. It is a shame.

  13. GaltJ Says:

It would be VERY nice if EVERY Ron Paul supporter participated in their state’s delegate selection at the county and district levels AFTER the primary voting it done. Just showing up, if you are a Republican, is all it takes.
This is going to be a VERY interesting year at the National conventions in September when we go to second, third, fourth, fifth etc. ballots AND people are no longer legally bound to vote for Huckabee, Thompson, and Giuliani.

  14. Steve Grycel Says:

Whoa Ronulans! Take it easy with Yolanda. It’s truely not her fault that she is brainwashed by the MSM and insider talking heads. You’ll probably notice that most people you talk to are the same way. Like the terminator, they can’t be reasoned with and they definately will not stop. However, there is good news: The possibility of a brokered convention. If J. McC and flip Romney keep trading frontrunner status, they’ll both end up with 45% of the delegates each. Then they will talk pretty to us. I don’t see much bending from McC, but with Flip it’s a way of life. We can get some of what we want from the Romnulan when he comes asking for our votes to win the nomination. Imagine that, Ronulans and Romnulans working together. I’ll take a piece of that action. Remember, half a loaf is better than none.

  15. JGalt Says:

The problem is not Paul or the message: the problem is no more than 15% of the public wants to hear it. Remember Franklin’s observation that those who trade freedom for safety get neither. We are today the result of that trade and no one feels (yet) that their safety is compromised.

  16. mickey Says:

The idea of liberty is not creepy. I guess not all people like being free, they would rather have the government control their lives.

  17. blakmira Says:

I’m one of those “creepy” Ron Paul supporters. Boy, am I creepy! I have 3 eyes, 2 mouths and green hair covering most of my face. In fact, I think I must be from Mars, because I love Dr. Ron Paul and his message of freedom, civil liberties, a booming economy, no criminal IRS and a smaller government. Boy, am I creepy!!!!

Maybe if I weren’t so creepy I’d vote for any of the other candidates like Yolanda. Then I’d have 100 years of war, a draft and a government microchip implant. I wouldn’t be so creepy, then, would I???

  18. Nancy Says:

Ron Paul’s supporters creepy? Sounds like you’re trying to spread misinformation. Let’s see: I’m middle class, I have a full-time job, a three-bed bedroom house in the suburbs, a college degree, I’m married, I’m a veteran…and I support Ron Paul. Why? Because I’m scared to death that I’m going to lose everything I worked my butt off for because the dollar is plunging. Ron Paul is the only candidate smart enough to get us out of this mess. I know many people who haven’t gotten a raise in five years - not even for inflation. There are vacant houses in my neighborhood being destroyed because the pipes are freezing and bursting. If I lost my job, I couldn’t sell my house if had to. The result - bankruptcy, foreclosure…That all creeps the hell out of me. People should be outraged that the mainstream media are blacklisting Ron Paul. Even if you don’t support him, you ought to be scared to death that the media are manipulating our election. This is too important to ignore.

  19. Yolanda Says:

Whoa! You creepy Paulies are funny and I’m supporting Obama just for the record. :-D

  20. S. Jackson Says:

I’m normally a Democrat and now will support Paul. He’s the only one advocating complete withdrawal from Iraq, and the only one that will cut spending. We are $60 TRILLION in debt and the time is coming to pay the piper. All the other candidates will do is speed up the economic implosion.

  21. Indian Says:

    Yolanda,
If I am not mistaken, your name means “fragrant flower” or “gentle”…something like that. Does not look like you are being kind by calling Paul Supporters Creepy.
I live in US but not a citizen yet, hence can’t vote. But I am CAMPAINING for Dr.Paul. I mean it speaks to the greatness of a Stateman and his message to make even a foreigner to campaign for him.
I do not agree with EVERYWORD Dr.Paul utters, but the top three important issues he is spot on! That is good enough for me. My wife and her family (who are all American) will be voting for ron paul this primary. This the first time they have voted for a republican in their lifetime! Now that’s transformation with the message of the constitution, nothing creepy there!
    Peace.

  22. LeRoy Says:

I generally vote democrat. Only once did I vote for a republican presidental candidate and that was Ronald Reagan in 1980. Today, the only candidate that makes sense and has integrity that I have seen is Ron Paul. I believe he will get us out of Iraq since we didn’t belong there to begin with and many other countries that we are in for reasons only God knows cuz I doubt the American people know why. The economy is in the tank with the dollar fading fast. I like the idea of smaller government with more local control rather than centralized at the federal level. A very republican concept that I don’t hear any candidate talking about except Ron Paul. I think he has the experience, the drive and the ideals to make a great President. I hope that if he runs as an independent if he doesn’t get the Republican nomination. I will not vote for McCain and I doubt the majority of Americans will either.

  23. ricknhouston Says:

Hmmmmmmmm! Start another party !!! Why didn’t I think of that ??? How about “The Constitution Party” and have the Liberty Bell as our logo !!!
or “The American Party” with the U.S. Flag as our logo…!

  24. Cedric Says:

Most people have nothing to lose, they haven’t worked all that hard, and that’s why they’re not voting for Ron Paul. The only people who get Ron Paul, are the people with something to lose. What Yolanda doesn’t know is… we’re ALL going to lose if anyone else gets elected.

  25. Yolanda Says:

Heh…hate crimes? That’s amusing. You’ve worked this Paulie thing into your genes so bad that now you think you’re a religion or something. Yeaahhhh…you’re totally CRAZY!

I see all these Paulies and Paulitas all the time congregating and asking me to join and it’s freaking me out. You people need a hobby or something.

  26. Tim Gallien Says:

    A NEW HOPE
We all have been living a nightmare. A vision D. Eisenhower warned of in his 1961 farewell address to the nation. In his address, Eisenhower warned of the corruption of our government, our society, and our culture by the MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX. It seems that as a nation, we have not listened. Eisenhower’s dire vision has become our reality. And from this fearful dream, this nation is waking. Our eyes are opening to the truth collectively for the first time. WE THE PEOPLE are finding that we have been subjugated, placated into ignorance and fear, lied to by the very people we have entrusted to preserve and protect our rights, liberties, and our constitution. Many will turn away in fear of truth and close their eyes once again. To open our eyes to this reality, is to also understand that we are all responsible for it as well. complacency and dependence upon the machine keeps THE PEOPLE in line because it is convenient and safe. We have sold our souls. We have as a nation let this happen to ourselves.
My heart breaks for the people of this nation. Our government wages war upon our freedoms, liberties, and our constitution. I watch our republic’s destruction, not to the sound of guns or bombs, but to the sound of thunderous applause of those held captive by terrified patriotic blindness, guided by the propaganda of fear, as we give our rights and even the lives of our fellow man for the profit of the corrupt. A fear that is erasing our great history of freedom and repeating itself 70 years later with another dictatorship of war, under the guise of homeland security and the protection of the people.
    BUT THERE IS STILL HOPE.
With love and openness, we can overcome ignorance and fear. It is our right as the people, and my duty as a United States MARINE written into our constitution by our founding fathers, entrusted to us, by the people, to ensure that our liberty, freedom, and the constitution never again become the subjugation of the corruption that we have wrought upon ourselves. We must take back our country, and give it to the people. So let us open our hearts, take responsibility, and make our HOPE become our reality. Lets begin REVOLUTION. His name

    Dr. Ron Paul

  27. Nannette Says:

Yolanda, do you know that Obama’s plan is to INCREASE government spending by $297 billion? How is he planning to pay for all that? Ron Paul’s plan would DECREASE government spending by $150 billion. Imagine what we could do with $150 billion!

  28. Scott Harmon Says:

Well, Paul’s campaign, or any other insurgent campaign, is a good thing for the country. Many people are missing out and losing their voice because they are used to the idea of taking what is given to them, like the no-change candidates for instance. We can wake up and demand a better process or just muddle through the buffet line and take what is offered. This is a good description of what has been happening in the electoral process for a long time:
    http://www.zcommunications.org/zmag/viewArticle/16305

  29. LG Says:

Yes indeed, Ron Paul concentrates on caucuses where people vote with paper ballots. Don’t you find it weird that Ron Paul does a lot better in States where they don’t have pre-programmed electronic voting machines?

  30. Ninja Says:

Here’s Ron kicking butt against the mainstream media:

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=yNmshHo7IsE

  31. paul Says:

people who wont vote for ron paul know absolutly nothing about the history of this once great nation. president jefferson wanted we the people to rebel against the government every 10-20 years, to keep the federal gov. honest and constitutional. if you actually know what the orignal intent of the constitution is and what it means the only logical vote if for ron paul, but its not becasue of him, we are not voting for the man ron paul, rather, it is what he has stood for for over 30 years, no flip floping like all the others. read your constitution.

  32. David J. Lindstedt, Sr. U.S. Army (retired) Says:

If Ron Paul does not win, the best thing for the Republican Party would be the election of Hillary. First she is a Trotskyite SOCIALIST. The economic chaos that will befall this nation over the next 3 to 7 years will be beyond comprehention. The result will be hanging upside down of those who are felt to be responsible. If the nation survives we will see the return to Constitutional government and trial for treason for all who deviate from the Constitution.

  33. Dan Says:

Ron Paul is the wrong messenger with the right message. His advertising and political strategy just absolutley are the most ineffective and becuase of it a great opportunity is being squandered and it is very very disappointing.

  34. Ray Says:

No Yolanda, You need to educate yourself about the role of government in a free society. You havent a clue. Btw your liberal colleges wont teach you either. What would you expect; truth from the government. I’m sure you would like me to pay for your health care, or better maybe your kid brother or son will get drafted after the election, would ou like that? hmmm? Yaeh vote McCain or Obama and you will see what kind of change your gonna get! You probably wont care for it too much afterwards.

  35. Chad_Underdonk Says:

“Actually, the whole nation loses. When Hillary takes away your guns or freedoms you’ll be wishing you supported Paul.”

She isn’t getting mine. I might give one of her lackies both barrels, but they sure as hell are going to pay through the nose if they want the whole weapon.

  36. Ray Says:

Dan, I don’t see anyone else taking up the message. Paul has been saying the same thing for 30 years!

  37. don Says:

I’ll tell you: who wouldn’t want their income tax elinated all together over the next 4 to 8 years? Who wouldn’t want to know that they don’t have to worry about their son or daughter or husband or wife being killed in a place like Iraqi or Afghanistan for no reason. Who wouldn’t like the dollar to regain it’s value so we can pay $1/gal for gas again? Who wouldn’t… This is RP’s platform. You’ll get none of these things with any one of the others. It will be like an old “Who” song: “here comes the new boss, same as teh old boss”.

  38. don Says:

I think the reason RP’s message seems so strange is because everyone alive today has known nothing but the way things are now: big governemnt, lots of taxes, military all over the world etc…but there was a time when it wasn’t like that. A time when there was no income tax: 1913 and before. a time when we had no troops anywhere in the world: pre WWII. A time when the dollar was actually backed by gold and silver and had real value: 1973. There’s no reason that those things shouldn’t still be in effect today except for a few things like the military industrial complex, big banks and special interests. So there’s no reason we can’t cut the legs out from underneath all those institutions and go back to type of governemnt that was meant to be.

  39. Yolanda Says:

Thanks for the warning Ray, but I went to Luther Rice. I’m not sure what you consider to be “liberal”.

  40. Kurt Rasche Says:

    Yolanda,

  41. Kurt Rasche Says:

Poor Yolanda. The nerve of Paul supporters asking for your vote. What could they be thinking? Asking for a vote in an election year. WOW! Your right - they are crazy. You think they beleive in what he is saying? The nerve of some people trying to save this soon to be Chinese country. Let’s go with Obama! That way we can double our efforts and spend our way to speaking Chinese twice as fast.

  42. James Kelley Says:

It is true that there are still many people that do not know about Ron Paul, and I blame the media blackout. At my office on Friday I spoke with two very tech savvy people that said, “Ron Who?” It is sad that people are not given the chance to learn about the people that are running. I feel that the media is committing treason.

  43. Yolanda Says:

    Kurt,
Asking for votes - that’s one thing. These Paulies seem intent on CONDEMNING people if they are not totally convinced of Ron Paul’s Great Plan. Even if people accept only some of his ideas, they’re yelled at for not being “true believers”. They are self-righteous and constantly drop in veiled Rand references that they think no one notices.

If Ron Paul were actually elected President, I think the US would turn into a dictatorship, with his rabid, insane followers demanding that people accept every tenant of his beliefs!

Tell me this…why is it that self-described Libertarians, who don’t want anyone to tell them what to do or think, so actively tell EVERYONE ELSE what to do and think? Apparently they just like being bossy and obnoxious.

  44. t3kn0 Says:

oh man these ron paul ppl are a trip. lol your guy is never gonna win whats he like 4 per cent in some places?? geez. u all go back to whatever hole u came out of.

  45. Dr. Worm Says:

it’s like people think that they can only choose between Coke and Pepsi and scoffing at anyone who would even consider drinking RC COLA.

also, you should check his views on the issues before condeming them. he’s all about individual choice.

yolanda, you are being bossy and obnoxious.

Obama would be my second choice, although a distant second. The only other candidate not to vote GW those emergency powers, of course Dr. Paul is the only one who actually voted against it.

Anyway, regardless of who you support, get out there and make an informed vote.

  46. Yolanda Says:

    Dr. Worm,
I’m not sure where you got the idea that I’M being bossy, but I certainly haven’t told anyone what to do - unlike the Paulies who continually rant that we should All Bow To The Great Ron Paul In The Sky.

“Obnoxious”, only because I’ve had enough of this Ron Paul crap. It’s like hippies from the 60s.

  47. NH Says:

Yolanda YOU are the creepy one here. Check what the UN is doing in your schools with “IB”– they are the ones poised to ‘take over’ the government and turn it into a Marxist one-world paradise. Why does that not concern you?. We are the ones who want to preserve the republic not overthrow it.

  48. Yolanda Says:

Oh, wow. The UN and one-world government. You’ve gone off the deep end now!

At least that tin foil hat of yours is recyclable.

  49. Dr. Worm Says:

the hippies were quite a force for social change in the 60’s. I was trying to be polite, but yolanda, your comments are filled with ignorance and intolerance, so kindly go f*ck yourself.
I have only seen supporters of Ron Paul preach the idea of LOOKING AT HIS POSISIONS ON THE ISSUES AND HIS VOTING RECORD and then DECIDING FOR YOURSELF instead of parroting empty slogans and name calling, a testament to your ignorance. The UN is a real thing. Foil is now made of aluminum. NH said nothing of cosmic rays brainwashing people, but your statements suggest this may actually be happening. i hope my humor will diffuse your anger.

yup, were the crazy ones, with all those “facts” and “reaearch”… wanting people to “make an informed vote” and “deciding for ourselves”

  50. Dr. Worm Says:

    Let’s try this instead:
what do you like about your candidate?

  51. SuperTruth Says:

The writer of this article seems to want to portray the Ron Paul campaign as an act of desperation. The campaign is anything but desperate. The RP campaign has more boots on the ground, a better message, a larger loyal fund raising base, and a better candidate than any other camp. The odds are in his favor that he will be the next President - certainly he has a better chance than the other guys who are burning themselves out and will not have the energy to make it to the convention.

  52. Mike Says:

Too bad the people backing Ron Paul are such idiots. They should all be wearing robes and passing out Kool-aid.
Sure Paul has some great ideas, but the people backing him are freaks. And I mean ALL of them.

  53. Dr. Worm Says:

yup, we’re ALL freaks, with that “thinking for yourself” and “following the constitution”. more name calling with no actual facts. even Mike admits Dr. Paul has some great ideas. How is it freaky to support someone with great ideas? I do wear a robe sometimes, but i drink RC Cola. The suggestion that Ron Paul supporters are some kind of cult following blindly is absurd. the anti-rons are the kool-aid drinking sheep of the nation. I suggest using logic and reason instead of name calling.
    Let’s try this again:
Who do you support and why?

  54. Mike Says:

“Dr. Worm”, If you have to ask why yall are freaks, then there is no use in trying to explain.
As for who I support, not a single person running for office at this time.

  55. DRUMS of WAR Says:

When did people supporting peace and liberty become “creepy?”

And, the last I checked, NONE of the members of the Council on Foreign Relations wears a tinfoil hat. If you check, you’ll not only learn that they don’t wear tinfoil hats, but that are also real.

Wouldn’t want to worry your pretty head about global fascism before it’s too late now though, would ya?

  56. Josh Says:

Ron Paul has alot of young supporters and if you look at EEtimes online they are reporting most contributions from the tech industry including google, microsoft, cisco, apple & verizon employees. Without mainstream media coverage alot of individuals that aren’t so young or tech savy haven’t even heard of Ron Paul. Also, straight from ABC, Ron Paul “received the most from donors in the military, collecting at least $212,000 from them.” All I am saying is his supporters aren’t abnormal or creepy and deinitely not a cult. : )

  57. Adnaloy Says:

I was going to vote for Obama, but if his supporters are like Yolanda, I am going to give Ron Paul a look.

  58. Mike Says:

Adnaloy, Pauls supporters are like a cult. Have fun if that is your cup of tea. Just remember, there is no way in hell that he would ever be President.

  59. RG Says:

Ron Paul is messenger. How many knew his message before he ran? Now how many have gotten the message? It’s growing and it doesn’t end here. The Media’s response has also shown a lot of people it’s true colors. He’s already won!

  60. Another Taxpayer Says:

Yolanda… do you know what’s really creepy? Someone like yourself just trolling mostly positive Ron Paul sites spewing garbage and not saying anything relevent to the conversation. It sounds like you need a new hobby.

  61. Dr. Worm Says:

mike, mike, mike. I am sorry you don’t have a candidate that you support. I support Ron Paul for his ideas and his voting record. anyway, he currently has more delegates than “frontrunner” McCain… so why is there no way in hell? I truly think that he is the only chance republicans have to beat Hillary or Obama. If they pick anyone else, they will lose. Glad to see you’re at least excersising free speech, but calling me a “freak” “creepy” and “cult” follower are further avoiding the real issues, and stereotyping, just like in your “and i mean ALL of them” statement. I strongly encourage you to research, and find a candidate you think would be the best. If you do not choose, the choice will be made for you. Good luck with that.

and Taxpayer, you’re right, that is truly creepy.

  62. Ronald Says:

    Hey Yolanda,

Boy, from the looks of the responses here, I sure am glad that my brief flirtation with Ron Paul was… uh… brief. There’s a certain pad-the-walls quality to the posts here once you start criticizing Herr Paul. And, hey, I will say that Paul did take a brave stand against the war and his arguments about getting out of the business of proping up Western Europe and Japan with American soldiers are right on.

That said, his domestic agenda is terrible, he’s wrong on choice, and he’ll raise taxes on the middle class by falling back on regressive tax schemes (sales or excise taxes) to finance the rump sections of government he still thinks should be around. He’ll set the clock back on this government to the year 1920 and his overall economic policies belong in the Guilded Era.

I think you’ve got the right candidate– as imperfect as he may be. Go Obama.

  63. Mike Says:

“Dr. Worm” It’s people like “Another Taxpayer” and yourself that prove to just about everyone else with a good head on their shoulders, that Ron Paul has nothing but nut jobs and head cases supporting him.
And “Another Taxpayer”, this isn’t a positive Ron Paul site, if anything it’s a McCain site. The guy that runs it is hell bent on that guy.

  64. Graham Says:

    Ronald-

You are grossly misinterpreting Ron Paul’s stance on taxes. How exactly does advocating the elimination of income tax mean “he’ll raise taxes on the middle class”? Do you understand how the federal government works? The president cannot singlehandedly raise taxes (the legislature has exclusive legislative authority, the executive has zero power to legislate, go read your constitution), furthermore Ron Paul, unlike every other candidate, has never voted to raise taxes in all the decades he has been a representative and he has said many times that he will not advocate raising taxes as President. Ron Paul does not advocate sales tax, he advocates a low uniform tariff and is in favor of modest excise taxes but he certainly is not in favor of raising any taxes on anyone let alone the middle class.

He also understands that there have to be transitions for the spending cuts he proposes (which are necessary given the $50 trillion projected entitlement deficit that is coming, unless of course you think we can run endless deficits and create hyperinflation, or raise taxes by some obscene amount to cover this) and that the only way to save social security and medicare for those who have become dependent on it is for us to save money by bringing home the troops, something Obama didn’t “want to make any promises about” when asked in a debate if he could commmit to being out of Iraq by 2013 (Ron Paul also wants to bring them home from the other 129 countries in which are troops are stationed what has the Council on Foreign Relations member Obama said about that? His silence is deafening.)

Also do you understand the monetary system? This is a key point because it’s what is hurting the middle class the most via inflation and the taxes which have to be kept so high to continue to make the interest payments on the burgeoning $9+ Trillion debt. Do you realize that when we “loan” money from the federal reserve and other central banks around the world they literally create the money to loan the federal government out of nothing? That creates inflation because when there is more dollars in the economy and the same amount of goods, each dollar is worth less goods, basic supply and demand. That’s what’s causing the oil prices to go up just look at a graph of gold vs. oil it’s virtually flat it’s not that gold and oil are getting more expensive it’s that our dollars are worth less because of the massive amount of inflation caused by the monetary system in which banks are allowed to create money every time they make a loan. Then we get to pay them hundreds of billions of dollars every year in interest payments for buying treasury bonds with money that they literally type into a computer! Seriously it’s true look it up.

As far as funding the government consider this, in the 80’s the Grace Commission Report found that not a single penny of personal income tax went to fund government services, it all went straight to interest on the national debt which at that time was much smaller than it is now.

Ron Paul actually understands and wants to uphold that part of the constitution (which he is sworn to do, an oath he takes seriously unlike practically every other politician) which gives Congress the power to coin money, not a privately owned for profit corporation i.e. the Federal Reserve (proof that it is private- there are many as one example, it has no budget! All government programs are subject to appropriations to pay for them by the Congress from the treasury the Federal Reserve isn’t one of them). It’s also secret, Ron Paul is a member of the House Banking committee and he is not allowed to attend their secret meetings.)

Oh and the abortion issue, go look in your constitution and show me where it says that state’s are not allowed to place limits on abortion. I don’t necessarily think abortion should be illegal, obviously there should be some limitation, certainly we can all agree a 9 months pregnant women should not have the right to kill the baby inside her, but the issue is debatable as to how much limitation there should be, but if you truly think the constitution should protect one’s right to have an abortion up to a certain point maybe you should consider trying to amend it rather than simply pretending that it does? Besides it’s a non-issue we have had a pro-life president for 8 years and guess what? Abortion is still legal! Even if Roe vs. Wade were overturned (which it should be because the constitution does not say state’s do not have the right to impose limitations on the practice of abortion), most State’s have it on the books to keep abortion legal anyway.

Furthermore you do realize the President has limited powers right? Ron Paul cannot (and does not want to) legislate or adjudicate because he actually believes in upholding the separation of powers written into the Constitution, you know that little document that every member of the government from the police officer on the street to the president in the white house swears to preserve and protect against all enemies foreign and domestic. How exactly do you think Ron Paul will “set the clock back on this government to the year 1920″? Assuming he wanted to do that, which he does not, we are electing a President not a dictator therefore your assertion is without merit.

Anyway I have my disagreements with Dr. Paul on certain issues but at least I know he actually cares about upholding his oath of office and obeying the constitution, what other candidates ever talk about that?

As for Yolanda I’d like to ask has anything I’ve said made me seem creepy? I realize it might take you some time to absorb and verify some of the things I’ve said as I imagine you may not have considered the devil in the details of critically important aspects of our government such as the monetary system but does awareness of facts make me seem creepy? You’re free to vote for whoever you want but I would encourage you to raise your awareness about the important issues facing this nation and make an informed decision.

For example do you even know what the Council on Foreign Relations is? Do you think you might want to at least look it up considering the candidate you are planning on voting for is a member? Do you think you might want to know at least a little about it considering the following quotes from the mentor to Bill Clinton and former CFR member?

“The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is the American Branch
of a society which originated in England… (and) believes national
boundaries should be obliterated and one-world rule established.”

    Quote by:

    Carroll Quigley
(1910-1977) Professor of History at Georgetown University, member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), mentor to Bill Clinton

Source:stated in his book “Tragedy & Hope”, 1966

“The powers of financial capitalism had (a) far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent meetings and conferences. The apex of the systems was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world’s central banks which were themselves private corporations. Each central bank…sought to dominate its government by its ability to control Treasury loans, to manipulate foreign exchanges, to influence the level of economic activity in the country, and to influence cooperative politicians by subsequent economic rewards in the business world.”

I could go on and on but would you listen Yolanda? How about you Ronald? Are you open to the truth? I have lots of reasons to support Ron Paul not the least of which is the fact that he is the only person still in the running that is not a member of this organization which believes, according to Carroll Quigley in his own book that national boundaries should be obliterated and one-world rule established. Call me creepy but I like the United States of America as defined in the Consitution and I want it to stay sovereign do you?

Consider the words of Thomas Jefferson:

“If the American people ever allow private banks
to control the issue of their money,
first by inflation and then by deflation,
the banks and corporations that will
    grow up around them,
will deprive the people of their property
until their children will wake up homeless
on the continent their fathers conquered.”

(1743-1826), US Founding Father, drafted the Declaration of Independence, 3rd US President
    Source:

in 1802 in a letter to then Secretary of the Treasury, Albert Gallatin

Believe me this is just the tip of the iceberg…

  65. Graham Says:

    Mike-

As I am supporting Ron Paul I take personal offense to your sweeping generalization “that Ron Paul has nothing but nut jobs and head cases supporting him”. How old are you? I am only 21 years old, but despite the fact that you are likely my elder I must say that I find your comment both impolite and immature. Do you talk to people in such a rude manner in public?

I believe I have given plenty of clear, complete, lucid explanations backed by well sourced facts as to why I support Ron Paul and I’ve got plenty more where they came from because I’ve thought a lot about the various issues. Perhaps you’d care to make a thoughtful comment regarding some of the topics which I have brought up?

Or instead maybe you would like to explain to me who you think I should support instead of Ron Paul and perhaps give me some compelling reason why? I have an open mind but I’m not easily swayed by conjecture so I would kindly ask that you provide some type of evidence for any claim you make as to why I should vote for someone other than Ron Paul.

  66. Mike Says:

Why shouldn’t you vote for Ron Paul? He will not take the threat of Islam serious. That’s the best reason right there to kick him in the ditch.

  67. Dr. Worm Says:

islam? or extreme islam? or gihadist extreme islam? or are ther more adjectives?
If we are so concerned with this, why did GWBush just sell the Saudis so much advanced weaponry?
I think Dr. Paul’s foreign policy is wise and will diffuse violent gihad terriblism that has increased since we’ve been bombing Iraq.
…. not that i take anything without a grain of salt or doing a little research… but if this is your belief, you should vote for whoever you think will deal with this issue best in your eyes. it’s great that we can all have different opinions here in America. Vote for yours.

  68. Graham Says:

    Mike-

I thought I explained to you that I am not easily swayed by conjecture, and this is what you offer as a response?

“Why shouldn’t you vote for Ron Paul? He will not take the threat of Islam serious. That’s the best reason right there to kick him in the ditch.”

Is that really the extent of your thought process?
Seriously though Mike I am a man, not a scared little boy who needs protection from the boogeyman, err I mean the so-called “threat of Islam”. You realize this is a played out trick right?

You should read this interview with Joseph Goebbels if you really believe that asinine argument.

“We got around to the subject of war again and I said that, contrary to his attitude, I did not think that the common people are very thankful for leaders who bring them war and destruction.”-Interviewer

“Why, of course, the people don’t want war,” Goering shrugged. “Why would some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece. Naturally, the common people don’t want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship.”-Goebbels

“There is one difference,” I pointed out. “In a democracy the people have some say in the matter through their elected representatives, and in the United States only Congress can declare wars.”-Interviewer

“Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.”-Goebbels

If that is your only argument, I am not swayed please provide something more, how can I say this nicely, substantive?

  69. Graham Says:

excuse me I made a factual error please note it was Herman Goering not Joespeh Goebbels who made the above quote.

  70. Mike Says:

LOL! Honestly Graham, I really didn’t read your post. As to you taking “personal offense” to my comments about Paul supporters, I really don’t care, nor will I ever. As a matter of fact, it makes me happy to know I can cause that in you.

  71. Mike Says:

“Dr. Worm”, just Islam. I’ve got no use for it.

  72. Ronald Says:

    Hi Graham,

Don’t get me wrong. I *like* Ron Paul. He has taken a brave stand against the war in Iraq and his emphasis on a humble foreign policy is laudible– especially in light of the militaristic foreign policy espoused by Bush, McCain, Romney, etc.

As to the substance of your post, I find myself agreeing with most of it… First, I understand the relationship between higher federal debt loads and inflation. I think the answer to that question is to do what Bill Clinton did in 1993 and raise taxes on the wealthy. The other answer is to do what Paul advocates and withdraw American troops from Iraq and get America out of the business of keeping troops in every corner of the planet.

The second point is on abortion. I think any concept of limited government as I understand it means that government should keep itself out of decisions made in the bedroom, the birthing room, or the death bed. There’s no argument in the Constitution about abortion, because at the time of its writing, abortion was legal and practiced in many places. Plus, I think there’s an argument to be made that the combination of the 1st, 4th, 9th, 10th, and 14th amendments means that there is a implied right to privacy and a right to be left alone by the government. I’d be delighted to see a constitutional amendment legalizing abortion in the United States. The problem with that is that that amendment would currently fail, because of resistance from the Republican party of which Paul is a part of. I certainly couldn’t guarantee his support, correct?

Your third point in your post was an assertion that Paul couldn’t get the more rather kooky points of his agenda approved by Congress. Well, I suppose that’s a valid argument. Still, I prefer that my candidate actually support what I believe in and get it passed though legislation.

Anyway, Paul is the best candidate in the Republican party. The fact that he is getting 6% of the vote in the Republican nomination race tells you something not about Paul, but about the state of the decrepit Republican party.

There’s two major things wrong with Paul. First, he isn’t going to win and, secondly, he’s terrible domestically. I prefer my government to actually take care of the sick and the old and the infirm. Under Paul the limited government he envisions isn’t going to do that.

  73. Richard Wicks Says:

Most of America is about to get the president they deserve. Why throw pearls to swine? Just slaughter them.

  74. Yolanda Says:

    Hey Richard,
Don’t you mean swine to pearls? I think you got the order wrong…yeah…pretty sure.

You Ron Paul SHEEP are a pretty bunch. Don’t bother to think or it’ll muss your hair. Just keep on towin’ the line, towin’ the line…behind your CRAAAAAAAAZY culty leader.

    Woot,
    Yolanda

  75. Yolanda Hatah Says:

I’m disgusted. It’s bad enough that of the contenders, only one person bothers to be honest (RP). It’s worse that some people are so stupid (Yolanda) that they can’t recognize their candidate is a liar, shameless self-promoter and power hungry zealot looking only to control the country in their own vision of some socialist hell. What’s even worse is the vast majority of people out there are too stupid to actually “vote change”.. It’s not the color of a man’s skin, or the gender of the candidate that brings change, it’s ideas. And very few of the candidates have any. RP is the only person who has said anything about actually addressing problems that the WHOLE country has, not just some special interest. Sigh. Some day, maybe… But so long as there are large numbers of marginally retarded voters like Mike out there, we’re all doomed.

  76. Mike Says:

“Yolanda Hatah”, there is no way in hell that Ron Paul will ever get any higher in government than he is right now. Sorry, it’s not going to happen. And it’s mainlyl due to the idiots that support him, much like yourself. You scare the shit out of normal people, you treat the bastard like a god and he isn’t. That is why you, and his other supporters are no more than blind sheep in a cult.

  77. Yolanda Says:

    Mike
Are you illiterate or just as stupid as the Ron Paul people? Learn to read.

    - Yolanda

  78. Mike Says:

Yolanda, are you the same as “Yolanda Hatah”?

  79. Juan McWar Says:

Regardless of what happens to Ron Paul the revolution has just begun and it is going to grow stronger over time. I think the greatest thing about our president is that everyone sees how terrible he is and how important it is not to allow the government to violate our freedoms. All that’s missing is for the establishment to steal elections with everyone watching!
