Florida Governor and potential Vice-Presidential running-mate Charlie Crist, 51, has announced his engagement to girlfriend Carol Rome, a wealthy 38 year old with two children from a previous marriage.
It is the fifth engagement for Crist, whose only marriage in 1979 lasted for only about six months. Crist’s father has been quoted telling the media that his son was engaged three times after that divorce, including twice to the same woman. Hopefully, the the fifth time is the charm for Mr. Crist and his new lady.
“They’re both very happy,” said Crist’s former chief of staff, George Lemieux. “He’s the happiest I’ve seen him since I’ve known him.”
Rome, of New York, was divorced in the spring. She has two children, ages 11 and 9. Her ex-husband, Todd, told The Palm Beach Post last month that Crist and Carole Rome were “good people.”
“If they’re in love then they should do the right thing and be happy,” he said.

$10 says that if Charlie doesn’t get picked for VP, the girl “dumps him” before they can tie the knot.
Unless he plans to run for President himself in 2012. And that’s a real possibility if McCain loses this year.

Yeah, Crist is the consummate politician: his first priority in life is election. This means that everything else takes a backseat, including principles, values, family, and truth. This is the the kind of person who shouldn’t be allowed to run a high school, let alone the free world!
