Hi Folks, welcome to the newly redesigned Conservative Pulse! Please pardon our dust as we get settled with the new format and work out the final kinks. We hope you like what we’ve done with the place and we look forward to keeping up the great community that has been built here over the past five years.
UPDATE: The main focus henceforth will be on new posts going forward - current events and whatnot.
The old posts were successfully exported from old CP, but apparently the export file cut off at a particular number or date. Anyway, the “most recent” post is a bit old. Some additional posts will soon be added and accurately dated but the comments have been lost, so please feel free to add some.

kicking around lookin for conservative websites to give us an alternative to the two wings of the Democratic party we have running now. If you just become a vote for McCain because he is the lesser of two bimbos , I will move on.

We have room for a wide variety of opinions on this site. There are good conservatives, such as myself, who are and have been supporting Senator McCain. But we have other readers and contributors who are supporting Bob Barr or even Chuck Baldwin.
We hope you’ll stick around.

Are the message boards gone for good?

Hey Mark, good to see you at the new site!
I’m not sure what the future of the message boards will be, but I think for now we’re going to try and go it as a blog and move the discussions into the comments. What is your opinion?

Bring back the boards. The Web Log is too robot like.

The boards were fun and I liked them, but my opinion has always been that realistically, they inhibited our growth. We seemed to hit a “plateau” of 10 regular posters at a time, and it would never go any higher. The key to growth is multi-tiered content delivered in a consistent stream, and until we really focus on that, we’ll have the same number of people as we did when we started in 2003.
Now I’m not one to sacrifice quality for quantity or greed, or anything like that. Our goal is not necessarily to have CP make money, but to have it reach a large audience and have at least a measurable impact on political culture in the United States. The convention is coming up, and we’re building towards that as a milestone for really making some connections and trying to deliver some content that doesn’t first get snatched up by Townhall.com, RedState or Politico.
I think there’s still a lot of potential for growth in delivering quality - not yelling and screaming - political content for conservatives, and I’d like CP to be able to do that. We can’t credibly do that however, if we only reach about 60 to 100 people per day (according to our statcounter).
There are lots of people here who post comments on articles but never participate in the boards. When we get even more of them, and when we learn how to best encourage them to register in a forum, then reopening the messageboards might make sense, and it would probably be a necessary part of our re-expansion anyway. Until then, I feel that it’s best to temporarily sacrifice them so that we can take a disciplined approach to content production and making connections to other conservative and political sites.

what boards??

I think the new layout is top notch for a blog and I appreciate the idea that you guys want to focus your time into advancing readership through content. Sounds like a sensible strategy to me, but dare I say that it would be a little sad to see the boards go. But oh well, places must evolve I suppose.
If I could make a suggestion though… maybe play around with an op-ed area that has viewpoints from all over the spectrum.
While he likely drives you guys nuts, I’d enlist Ron to submit pieces from time to time…if he were interested. He writes with flare and wit. More importantly perhaps, he’s provocative. It’s hard for people to get fired up and engaged if the choir is preaching to them all the time.
In any matter, I wish you luck with it and I’ll be sure to pop in and comment from time to time.

I wouldn’t enlist Ron to get the time right.

I noticed that there is an iPod on the top of the page. Are yall going to be putting out a podcast?

Please bring the message board back. This is too damn boring.
That and I need something to do after I’ve sent everyone to the far corners of the South East, and invoiced to bring in my windfall profits.
